Course Overview
Located in Dharan, the B. P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences operates an autonomous, integrated, organ-system-based MBBS curriculum that bridges basic biomedical sciences with clinical practice. The initial years focus on system-based modules combining anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, and pharmacology alongside Problem-Based Learning (PBL).
Students transition into clinical rotations across internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, OB/GYN, psychiatry, and emergency care within its 700+ bed tertiary teaching hospital. BPKIHS heavily emphasizes community-oriented health, embedding residential rural health postings, epidemiological research, and a 1-year compulsory internship that prepares graduates for international licensing examinations like USMLE, PLAB, and NExT.
