Course Overview

The General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Volgograd State Medical University is designed to combine strong theoretical instruction with extensive practical medical training throughout six years of study. Students begin with comprehensive courses in anatomy, histology, physiology, chemistry, microbiology, pathology, and pharmacology while developing essential laboratory and clinical skills through practical sessions. The university places significant importance on simulation training, enabling students to master examination techniques, emergency procedures, and clinical decision-making before entering hospital practice.

During the clinical phase, students rotate through regional teaching hospitals where they receive supervised training in internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, anesthesiology, traumatology, and other medical specialties. The curriculum also integrates preventive healthcare, medical ethics, rehabilitation medicine, and pharmaceutical knowledge to provide a broader understanding of patient care. Continuous clinical practice, internships, and state certification ensure graduates acquire the practical competence and professional confidence required for further specialization and medical practice.
