General Medicine – OMSUo

Course Overview

The General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Ogarev Mordovia State University combines a structured biomedical curriculum with progressive clinical education that prepares students for patient-centered medical practice. The course begins with anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, and pharmacology while emphasizing practical laboratory skills and scientific understanding. Students gradually transition into clinical education through simulation centres and skills laboratories, allowing them to develop examination techniques, procedural competence, and communication abilities before entering hospitals.

Clinical training is delivered in affiliated teaching hospitals where students undertake supervised rotations in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, cardiology, neurology, oncology, infectious diseases, and emergency medicine. The program also encourages participation in research projects, evidence-based medicine, and preventive healthcare initiatives, promoting a comprehensive approach to medical education. Graduates complete extensive clinical internships with the knowledge and practical skills required for residency and professional medical practice.
