General Medicine – OSMU

Course Overview

The General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Orenburg State Medical University follows a progressive educational model that gradually transitions students from fundamental medical sciences to independent clinical reasoning and patient care. The course begins with intensive training in anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, and medical ethics, providing a solid scientific foundation for future clinical studies. Practical education is integrated throughout the curriculum through laboratory classes, anatomical dissections, and simulation-based skill development.

Clinical teaching is delivered in affiliated regional hospitals, where students participate in bedside learning, patient history taking, diagnostic interpretation, and treatment planning under experienced medical professionals. Rotations include internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, infectious diseases, emergency medicine, and primary healthcare. The program also emphasizes preventive medicine, public health, and interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling students to understand healthcare from both clinical and community perspectives. By the end of the program, graduates possess the clinical knowledge, professional ethics, and practical experience required for further medical specialization.
