General Medicine – OMSU

Course Overview

The 6-year General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Ogarev Mordovia State University is structured to provide comprehensive medical education through integrated classroom instruction, simulation-based practical training, and extensive clinical experience. The curriculum begins with anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, and pharmacology before progressing into organ-based medicine and specialized clinical subjects. A distinguishing feature of the program is its focus on competency-based learning, where students regularly develop clinical examination, procedural, and communication skills using simulation technologies before entering hospitals.

Clinical rotations are conducted in affiliated medical institutions covering internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, oncology, emergency medicine, and primary healthcare. Students also participate in scientific research, preventive medicine initiatives, and clinical case discussions that strengthen evidence-based decision-making. Through continuous practical assessment and supervised internships, the program prepares graduates for residency training and professional medical practice.
