General Medicine – NEFU

Course Overview

The General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at North-Eastern Federal University is structured to prepare future physicians through competency-based education that combines medical science with practical healthcare training adapted to diverse clinical environments. Students begin with anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, and pharmacology before progressing into integrated clinical disciplines. Hospital-based education is delivered through affiliated medical institutions where students undertake supervised rotations in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, cardiology, neurology, emergency medicine, and family medicine. The program also includes community healthcare, epidemiology, and preventive medicine, reflecting the healthcare needs of northern and remote populations. Graduates complete comprehensive clinical training with the knowledge, adaptability, and professional competence required for modern medical practice.
