General Medicine – KSMUk

Course Overview

The 6-year English-medium General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Kursk State Medical University emphasizes competency-based medical education with early patient-oriented learning and continuous practical training. The curriculum begins with foundational disciplines such as anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and pathology before gradually introducing students to clinical diagnosis and disease management. A notable feature of the program is its integration of digital learning technologies, simulation laboratories, and structured clinical skills assessment from the early stages of medical education.

Clinical instruction takes place in affiliated hospitals and specialized healthcare centres where students gain supervised experience in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, cardiology, infectious diseases, emergency medicine, and family medicine. Alongside clinical practice, students are encouraged to participate in scientific research, medical conferences, and academic projects that strengthen critical thinking and evidence-based clinical decision-making. The program concludes with comprehensive clinical training and state examinations, ensuring graduates possess the theoretical knowledge, practical expertise, and professional competencies expected of modern medical practitioners.
