General Medicine – KSMU

Course Overview

The General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Kazan State Medical University follows a structured six-year curriculum that places strong emphasis on developing practical clinical competence alongside medical theory. During the initial phase, students gain a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, microbiology, and medical psychology, creating a strong scientific foundation for clinical medicine. Unlike many traditional programs, KSMU integrates practical classes and laboratory training throughout each academic year, ensuring students continuously apply theoretical concepts in real-world settings.

Clinical education is delivered through the university’s affiliated hospitals and specialized healthcare institutions, where students undertake supervised rotations in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, infectious diseases, neurology, and emergency care. The curriculum encourages clinical reasoning through patient case discussions, diagnostic interpretation, and procedural training while also introducing students to preventive medicine and public health. Research participation, student scientific societies, and practical internships further strengthen professional development, enabling graduates to transition confidently into residency programs and medical practice.
