Course Overview

The 6-year General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Ivanovo State Medical Academy is designed to develop clinically competent physicians through a progressive blend of theoretical education, practical laboratory work, and patient-centered clinical training. The course begins with fundamental medical sciences including anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, medical biology, and microbiology before advancing into pathology, pharmacology, and disease-focused clinical disciplines. A notable aspect of the curriculum is its emphasis on continuous practical skill development through simulation laboratories and structured clinical training modules.

Students undertake supervised clinical rotations in affiliated teaching hospitals across internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, cardiology, anesthesiology, and infectious diseases. The program also promotes scientific research, preventive healthcare, medical ethics, and evidence-based clinical practice, enabling students to develop analytical thinking alongside professional competence. Extensive bedside teaching, internships, and final state assessments prepare graduates for postgraduate medical education and modern clinical practice.
