General Medicine – PSUs

Course Overview

The General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Pskov State University provides students with a comprehensive medical education through a carefully structured curriculum that combines biomedical sciences, practical laboratory training, and progressive clinical experience. During the pre-clinical years, students study anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical genetics while developing laboratory and communication skills through practical sessions. The university emphasizes simulation-based learning and clinical skills workshops, allowing students to build confidence in patient examination, procedural techniques, and clinical decision-making before hospital placements.

Clinical rotations are conducted in affiliated healthcare institutions where students receive supervised training in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, cardiology, neurology, infectious diseases, emergency medicine, and family medicine. The curriculum also incorporates preventive healthcare, public health, and evidence-based medicine, encouraging a holistic and patient-centered approach to healthcare. Through continuous bedside teaching, practical internships, and competency-based assessments, graduates acquire the clinical knowledge and professional skills required for successful medical practice.
