Doctor of Medicine (MD) – UWSM

Course Overview

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program at UW School of Medicine is a 4-year full-time graduate medical degree accredited by the LCME. The WWAMI curriculum combines preclinical foundations across five northwestern states, targeted primary care/rural health tracks, and regional clinical clerkships.

Graduates receive the title of Medical Doctor (MD), complying with U.S. licensing requirements (USMLE) and ACGME residency eligibility.

Entry Requirements

  • 90+ semester hours from an accredited US/Canadian college.
  • MCAT required (511+ target); TOEFL iBT for foreign degrees.
  • 1 semester Math/Stats; Bio, Gen Chem, Org Chem, Physics, Humanities.
  • Admission is primarily restricted to U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents. The institution gives strong preference to applicants from the WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) in accordance with its regional healthcare mission. F-1 student visa sponsorship is generally unavailable for the MD program, except for eligible applicants admitted to the combined MD/PhD Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP).
  • Applicants applying through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) should provide either a Committee Letter Packet or three to four individual Letters of Recommendation (LORs) from professors, physicians, employers, or research mentors who can provide a comprehensive evaluation of the applicant’s academic performance, professionalism, and readiness for medical education.
