Course Overview

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program at SUNY Upstate College of Medicine is a 4-year full-time graduate medical degree accredited by the LCME.

The curriculum combines organ-system basic sciences, clinical skills training, and clerkship rotations in Syracuse and Binghamton campuses. Graduates receive the title of Medical Doctor (MD), complying with U.S. licensing requirements (USMLE) and ACGME residency eligibility.

Entry Requirements

  • 90+ semester hours at an accredited US/Canadian college required.
  • MCAT required (511+ target); TOEFL iBT for foreign degrees.
  • 1 semester Math/Stats; Bio, Gen Chem, Org Chem, Physics, Writing.
  • The primary applicant pool consists of U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents. International applicants requiring F-1 student visas may be considered only if they have successfully completed at least 90 semester credit hours of coursework at an accredited U.S. institution before applying.
  • Applicants applying through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) should provide either a Pre-Health Committee Letter Packet or three individual Letters of Recommendation (LORs) from faculty members, physicians, employers, or research supervisors familiar with the applicant’s academic performance and professional potential.
