MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) – IM

Course Overview

As Nepal’s premier public medical institution under Tribhuvan University, the Maharajgunj Medical Campus sets the benchmark for medical education and clinical research in the region. The 5.5-year MBBS program begins with an Integrated Basic Medical Sciences (IBMS) phase covering gross anatomy, histology, human physiology, medical biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, and pharmacology, coupled with early patient exposure in Introduction to Clinical Medicine.

During the paraclinical and clinical phases, students undergo intensive ward clerkships in general medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, and community health. Clinical training is centered at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), a 1,000+ bed national tertiary referral center, where students evaluate complex cases before completing a mandatory 12-month rotating internship.
