General Medicine – KSMUi

Course Overview

The 6-year General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Kirov State Medical University is structured to provide a strong balance between fundamental medical sciences, practical skill development, and clinical training. Students begin with anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, and pharmacology before progressing into integrated clinical medicine through an organ-system approach. The curriculum places significant emphasis on simulation-based education and practical workshops, enabling students to master clinical examination techniques, emergency procedures, and patient communication before entering hospital wards.

Clinical rotations are conducted in affiliated regional hospitals across internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, cardiology, neurology, infectious diseases, oncology, and emergency medicine. Students also engage in scientific research, preventive medicine, and evidence-based clinical practice, strengthening both analytical and diagnostic abilities. Continuous hospital internships and competency-based assessments ensure graduates are well prepared for postgraduate medical education and professional clinical practice.
