General Medicine – KBSU

Course Overview

The 6-year General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Kabardino-Balkarian State University is designed to provide balanced medical education through integrated classroom instruction, practical laboratory work, and progressive clinical training. During the initial years, students build a strong scientific foundation in anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, and pharmacology before advancing into clinical disciplines. The curriculum places particular emphasis on practical skill development through simulation technologies and clinical skills laboratories, ensuring students gain confidence before interacting with patients.

Clinical education is delivered through affiliated healthcare institutions where students receive supervised training in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, cardiology, traumatology, and emergency medicine. The program also incorporates preventive medicine, community healthcare, and evidence-based clinical decision-making, encouraging students to understand both individual and population health. Continuous practical assessments and hospital internships prepare graduates for further medical specialization and clinical practice.
