General Medicine – OSMUo

Course Overview

The General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Omsk State Medical University is designed to develop skilled physicians through a progressive curriculum that integrates biomedical sciences with practical healthcare training. During the early years, students study anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, and medical ethics while building laboratory and communication skills. The university places particular emphasis on practical classes and simulation-based learning, enabling students to develop diagnostic and procedural abilities before clinical practice.

As the course advances, students undertake supervised rotations in university-affiliated hospitals across internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, neurology, infectious diseases, anesthesiology, and emergency medicine. The curriculum also includes preventive medicine, public health, rehabilitation, and interdisciplinary teamwork to prepare students for diverse healthcare settings. Continuous patient interaction, practical examinations, and research opportunities enable graduates to acquire strong clinical judgment and the professional skills expected of modern physicians.
