Course Overview

The 6-year General Medicine (MBBS equivalent) program at Perm State Medical University is designed to provide a balanced combination of academic learning, clinical practice, and scientific research. During the initial years, students develop a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, histology, medical chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, and pathology through lectures, laboratory sessions, and practical demonstrations. A distinctive aspect of the program is its focus on developing clinical competence through skills laboratories and simulation-based training before students begin hospital practice.

From the third year onwards, education becomes increasingly patient-oriented, with supervised clinical rotations conducted in the university’s affiliated multidisciplinary hospitals and specialized medical centres. Students receive practical exposure in internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology, anesthesiology, intensive care, oncology, and preventive medicine. The curriculum also encourages participation in scientific research, student medical societies, and academic conferences, helping future physicians strengthen analytical and evidence-based clinical decision-making. Graduates complete extensive practical internships and state examinations, preparing them for postgraduate specialization and professional medical practice.
