LLM International Human Rights Law – DCU
Course Overview
The LLM International Human Rights Law provides advanced knowledge of international human rights principles, legal frameworks, and global justice systems. Students explore international humanitarian law, refugee law, human rights litigation, constitutional rights, international treaties, and comparative legal systems through research-led learning and legal analysis.
The programme develops advanced legal research, advocacy, and policy evaluation skills while examining contemporary human rights challenges worldwide. Students critically assess international institutions and legal mechanisms that protect fundamental rights and freedoms. Graduates are prepared for careers in international organizations, legal practice, government agencies, human rights advocacy, and academic research.
Entry Requirements
- Certified copy of a recognized Level 8 Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or related degree in International Relations/Social Sciences (minimum 60% or 2.1 Honours / 3.0 GPA).
- IELTS 6.5 (with 6.5 in writing and speaking, 6.0 in other bands), TOEFL iBT 92, PTE 63, or Duolingo 120.
- Legal research methods background review and human rights coursework check.
- Updated CV/resume, official law transcripts, statement of purpose, and two academic reference letters.
- Legal essay submission or transcript module mapping.
