Course Overview

The Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Program at UP-KYCOM is a 4-year full-time graduate medical degree accredited by COCA. The curriculum integrates biomedical systems, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM), Appalachian rural health focus, and clinical hospital clerkships.

Graduates receive the title of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), complying with U.S. licensing requirements (COMLEX-USA / USMLE) and ACGME residency eligibility.

Entry Requirements

  • 90+ semester hours from an accredited US college required.
  • MCAT required (501+ target); TOEFL iBT for non-native speakers.
  • 1 semester Math/Stats; Bio (8 Credit Hours), Gen Chem (8 Credit Hours), Org Chem (8 Credit Hours), Physics (8 Credit Hours).
  • Only U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents are eligible for admission. Applications from international students requiring F-1 student visa sponsorship are not accepted for this medical program.
  • Applicants applying through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) should provide either a Committee Evaluation Packet or three to four individual Letters of Recommendation (LORs) from professors, physicians, research mentors, employers, or other professionals who can evaluate the applicant’s academic ability, personal qualities, and readiness for medical education.
