Course Overview

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program at UT Southwestern Medical School is a 4-year full-time graduate medical degree accredited by the LCME.

The curriculum features an 18-month preclinical basic science core, clerkships at Parkland Memorial Hospital and Clements University Hospital, and scholarly tracks. Graduates receive the title of Medical Doctor (MD), complying with U.S. licensing requirements (USMLE) and ACGME residency eligibility.

Entry Requirements

  • Bachelor degree required; US college coursework strongly mandated.
  • MCAT required (516+ target); TOEFL iBT for foreign degrees.
  • 3 Credit Hours Math/Stats; 14 Credit Hours Bio, 12 Credit Hours Chem, 3 Credit Hours Biochem, 8 Credit Hours Physics, 6 Credit Hours English.
  • The institution primarily admits U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents through the TMDSAS application system. Although admission for F-1 student visa holders may occasionally be considered, such approvals are exceptionally rare and evaluated on an individual basis.
  • Applicants applying through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS) should submit either a Committee Letter or three individual Letters of Recommendation (LORs). A recommendation letter from a licensed Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) is recommended to demonstrate clinical experience and strengthen the applicant’s candidacy for osteopathic medical education.
