Course Overview

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program at UNC School of Medicine is a 4-year full-time graduate medical degree accredited by the LCME. The Translational Education at Carolina (TEC) curriculum features integrated basic sciences, application phase clerkships, and rotations at UNC Hospitals.

Graduates receive the title of Medical Doctor (MD), complying with U.S. licensing requirements (USMLE) and ACGME residency eligibility.

Entry Requirements

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited US/Canadian college required.
  • MCAT required (513+ target); TOEFL iBT for foreign degrees.
  • 1 semester Math/Stats; Bio, Gen Chem, Org Chem, Physics, Behavioral Sci.
  • Admission is restricted exclusively to U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents. The institution does not sponsor F-1 student visas for its medical program, and international applicants requiring such sponsorship are not eligible for admission.
  • Applicants applying through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) should provide either a Committee Evaluation Packet or three individual academic Letters of Recommendation (LORs) from professors who have taught the applicant and can objectively evaluate their academic ability, integrity, and readiness for medical school.
