Course Overview

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program at Perelman School of Medicine is a 4-year full-time graduate medical degree accredited by the LCME. The curriculum features a 1.5-year accelerated organ-systems core, early clinical entry, dedicated scholarly/dual-degree time, and rotations at Penn Medicine hospitals.

Graduates receive the title of Medical Doctor (MD), complying with U.S. licensing requirements (USMLE) and ACGME residency eligibility.

Entry Requirements

  • 10+4 accepted w/ evaluation; Bachelor degree from accredited institution.
  • MCAT required (522+ target); TOEFL iBT / IELTS if non-native.
  • Calculus/Stats; Bio, Gen Chem, Org Chem, Biochem, Physics, Intensive Writing.
  • International students and F-1 visa applicants are considered on the same academic basis as domestic applicants. However, applicants must first complete at least 12 months of science coursework at an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution before becoming eligible for admission.
  • Applicants applying through AMCAS (American Medical College Application Service) should submit either a Pre-Health Committee Letter Packet or three to five individual Letters of Recommendation (LORs) from faculty members, research mentors, physicians, or supervisors who can provide a comprehensive evaluation of the applicant’s academic and professional qualifications.
