About Volgograd State Medical University
Established in 1935 as the Stalingrad Medical Institute, Volgograd State Medical University (VolSMU) has evolved into one of southern Russia’s premier medical education centers along the Volga River. Renowned for its strong emphasis on practical clinical skills and pharmacology research, VolSMU trains thousands of international students across various healthcare disciplines.
The university maintains active ties with Volgograd’s major regional teaching hospitals, specialized surgical centers, and its own University Dental Clinic, affording students extensive hands-on clinical rotations from the third year onward. VolSMU awards specialist degrees in General Medicine (MBBS equivalent), Dentistry, and Pharmacy, and is fully recognized by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, WHO, WDOMS, ECFMG, and NMC (India).
