Course Overview

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program at Ponce Health Sciences University is a 4-year full-time graduate medical degree accredited by the LCME.

The curriculum integrates basic biomedical instruction, bilingual patient care, clinical skills, and hospital clerkships in Puerto Rico and mainland affiliate sites. Graduates receive the title of Medical Doctor (MD), complying with U.S. licensing requirements (USMLE) and ACGME residency eligibility.

Entry Requirements

  • 10+4 accepted w/ evaluation; Bachelor degree required.
  • MCAT required (501+ target); Bilingual (Spanish & English) required.
  • 6 Credit Hours Math; Bio (8 Credit Hours), Gen Chem (8 Credit Hours), Org Chem (8 Credit Hours), Physics (8 Credit Hours), Behavioral Sci.
  • International applicants requiring F-1 student visas are eligible to apply. The institution accepts international students across both its Puerto Rico campus and its mainland U.S. campuses, subject to standard admissions requirements.
  • Applicants should submit their application through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS), or directly to the institution if permitted, along with three Letters of Recommendation (LORs) consisting of two letters from science faculty members (such as Biology, Chemistry, or Physics professors) and one letter from a non-science faculty member who can evaluate the applicant’s academic ability and personal qualities.
