About Northern Ontario School of Medicine University
NOSM University is Canada’s first independent medical university with a social accountability mandate focused on improving healthcare in Northern Ontario. The distributed medical education model enables students to learn in hospitals, clinics, and Indigenous communities across more than 90 urban, rural, remote, and Francophone locations.
The curriculum emphasizes community-engaged learning, primary care, rural medicine, Indigenous health, and population health. Through close collaboration with regional healthcare partners, NOSM prepares physicians committed to serving underserved and geographically diverse communities.

Eligibility Criteria
- • Academics:Completed 4-year Bachelor’s degree (or 3-year degree) with a minimum GPA of 3.00.
- • Standardized Testing:MCAT is NOT required.
- • Language & Testing:CASPer test required + English proficiency.
- • Contextual Scoring:Evaluates Northern Ontario, rural, remote, and Indigenous community connections.
- • Health & Documentation:Background check and medical health clearance.
